We doubled the size of our four beds, as will be apparent in the photos.

We added Miracle Grow planting soil to the newly-tilled soil and regular (Lowe's brand) planting soil to the existing beds, and fertilized all planting areas.

As a side project, we're putting down newspaper topped with Cowan Ace "Weed Block" blackcloth to keep weeds out of the areas around the beds. The combination of the newspaper AND the "Weed Block" blackcloth appears to be the magic bullet to keep weeds from growing up through blackcloth alone.
